{"id":27744,"date":"2020-12-17T09:59:49","date_gmt":"2020-12-17T13:59:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.carilec.org\/?post_type=job_listing&#038;p=27744"},"modified":"2021-01-09T00:31:24","modified_gmt":"2021-01-09T04:31:24","slug":"program-officer-eastern-caribbean-green-entrepreneurship-initiative","status":"expired","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/carilec.org\/?post_type=job_listing&p=27744","title":{"rendered":"Program Officer, Eastern Caribbean Green Entrepreneurship Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>The\u00a0Program Officer, Eastern Caribbean Green Entrepreneurship Initiative\u00a0will\u00a0be based in Castries, Saint Lucia, and will\u00a0work under the guidance of the\u00a0Caribbean\u00a0Representative to\u00a0support the\u00a0design and\u00a0implementation of\u00a0a green entrepreneurship incubation program and associated activities of the\u00a0Eastern Caribbean Green Entrepreneurship Initiative.\u00a0\u00a0The\u00a0Program\u00a0Officer will\u00a0initially support\u00a0the\u00a0Caribbean Representative at\u00a0the inception phase of the\u00a0program\u00a0and then\u00a0lead implementation\u00a0of the assigned components of the program.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>The duration of the position is 3-years with the possibility of extension.\u202fContracting of the successful candidate is conditional upon confirmation of funding.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Project Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">GGGI\u2019s Eastern Caribbean Green Entrepreneurship Initiative supports the development,\u00a0 financing, and growth of businesses that contribute to addressing environmental and sustainability issues in 6\u00a0 OECS countries (Antigua &amp; Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts &amp; Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines) in order to assist countries in meeting their climate change and green growth goals while creating green jobs and developing local green industries.\u00a0 The initiative will offer incubation and accelerator programs, including virtual courses, a mentorship program, links to investors, in-person events and networking opportunities, in addition to provision of seed grants and repayable loans to selected businesses.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The initiative will offer incubation and accelerator programs, including virtual courses, a mentorship program,\u00a0links to investors,\u00a0in-person events and networking opportunities, in addition to offering seed grants and repayable loans to selected businesses. The\u00a0Eastern Caribbean Green Entrepreneurship Initiative\u00a0is funded with support from the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">GGGI is\u00a0also\u00a0delivering a corresponding project in the Pacific, called the Pacific Green Entrepreneurs Network (PGEN).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Purpose<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Officer will support\u00a0development and coordination of the program aimed to scale up green entrepreneurship across the Caribbean.\u00a0The platform will offer training, mentorship, and financing opportunities to the participants, resulting in innovative new business ideas that will ensure profitability and social good. The Officer\u00a0will\u00a0develop and implement training and support mechanisms for the platform and\u00a0recruit\u00a0innovative green entrepreneurs\u00a0and\u00a0support them\u00a0through\u00a0design and implementation of\u00a0their business ideas, that shall\u00a0align with national development priorities and be promoted to the private sector and donor community.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Engagement<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In support of\u00a0the\u00a0platform development\u00a0the\u00a0Program Officer will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Recruit and build strong relationships with entrepreneurs\u00a0to\u00a0ensure\u00a0their commitment and engagement\u00a0in\u00a0program\u00a0activities.<\/li>\n<li>Develop strong relationships with key government institutions, key private sector institutions including green businesses, relevant academic institutions, and other key stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of the project<\/li>\n<li>Deploy strategies to secure collaboration,\u00a0buy-in,\u00a0and support from a diverse range of stakeholders\u00a0across the region in relevant disciplines, particularly private-sector, to ensure local\u00a0support for the program<\/li>\n<li>Work closely\u00a0and communicate regularly\u00a0with GGGI team members\u00a0to ensure\u00a0efficient\u00a0project delivery.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate and communicate regularly with GGGI colleagues\u00a0who are\u00a0leading the delivery of green entrepreneurship projects\u00a0in other regions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Delivery<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Program Officer will be responsible for\u00a0job duties including but not limited to the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support the inception phase of the project by liaising with country governments and other project stakeholders,\u00a0mapping stakeholders,\u00a0and assisting with setting up the\u00a0operational structure of the program, including development of projects, templates, documents, and other materials.<\/li>\n<li>Deliver\u00a0Eastern Caribbean Green Entrepreneurship Initiative\u00a0Incubation program activities, including\u00a0an online\u00a0training\u00a0program,\u00a0award\u00a0and\u00a0disbursement of\u00a0start-up funds to select entrepreneurs and MSMEs, and knowledge sharing in the Caribbean to enable the environment for innovation and entrepreneurship.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to development of online training materials related to green business and the lean canvas approach, including written materials and\u00a0hands-on activities and exercises.<\/li>\n<li>Organize and deliver on-line training\u00a0sessions, including recruitment of guest speakers, coordinating times and\u00a0agendas,\u00a0and\u00a0facilitating training sessions for a geographically dispersed audience.<\/li>\n<li>Lead\u00a0mentorship program, including recruitment, matching, and managing of mentors.<\/li>\n<li>Lead the process of recruiting and selecting participants in the\u00a0Incubation\u00a0program.<\/li>\n<li>Organize program activities including capacity building workshops, mentorship meetings, and knowledge sharing events, and support in the facilitation of these activities based on yearly\/ biannual work programs and budget plans<\/li>\n<li>Support implementation and delivery of the Acceleration program as necessary.<\/li>\n<li>Support the design\u00a0of\u00a0general and country-specific content to raise awareness on the\u00a0Eastern Caribbean Green Entrepreneurship Initiative\u00a0project, increase entrepreneurs\u2019 participation in the program, and enhance buy-in among stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li>Report on results\u00a0of program activities and facilitate internal and external communications.<\/li>\n<li>Capture lessons learned in project management to support refinement\/improvement of existing policies and procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Identify project delivery issues and ensure effective coordination of project activities and resources to ensure attainment of objectives against established timeframes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Undergraduate\u00a0degree in the field of business management\/development, finance, sustainable development, environmental science\u00a0and\/or a\u00a0related field.<\/li>\n<li>5\u00a0years of relevant\u00a0professional experience in a related field, such as business, entrepreneurship, innovation, private sector engagement, training, sustainability, environmental science, green growth, etc.\u00a0in\u00a0Caribbean\u00a0countries\/small island developing states.<\/li>\n<li>Overall understanding of the concept of green growth, sustainability,\u00a0and climate change vulnerability in the context of\u00a0small island\u00a0developing countries.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in engagement with\u00a0the\u00a0private-sector, particularly\u00a0small and\u00a0micro\u00a0businesses,\u00a0as well as\u00a0government ministries and agencies.\u00a0\u00a0Experience\u00a0with international organizations is an advantage.<\/li>\n<li>Experience organizing and facilitating workshops, training\u00a0and\/or events, particularly related to\u00a0entrepreneurship and sustainable\u00a0development;<\/li>\n<li>Excellent and dynamic presentation skills, and\u00a0experience in\u00a0using\u00a0online tools to support delivery of\u00a0events and training.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in\u00a0managing projects or programs, including\u00a0reporting\u00a0and communicating with stakeholders, and in\u00a0applying participatory approaches, gender, environmental and social inclusion safeguards.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in identifying and\u00a0of mobilizing funding opportunities for\u00a0small businesses\u00a0is a plus.<\/li>\n<li>Direct experience\u00a0working\u00a0as an entrepreneur\u00a0is an advantage.<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in English\u00a0and excellent writing skills
