Several initiatives geared towards preparation<\/strong><\/p>\n July 31, 2020<\/p>\n The JPS Foundation has given support to over 900 students who are sitting the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) Electrical and Electronic exams at this time. The Foundation\u2019s support began earlier in the school year, with the sponsorship of the CSEC Fee for over 400 students, to the tune of $1.6M. This has been followed by a number of initiatives, geared to helping students prepare for the sitting, including an online mini-lecture series and virtual revision sessions for both CSEC and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) students.<\/p>\n The online sessions have been led by volunteer JPS subject matter experts in Electrical Technology, Mathematics and Physics. Additionally, they provided students with material and guidance in completing their School Based Assessments (SBA) and internal research papers.<\/p>\n Further, in recognition of the challenges posed by remote learning, due to this COVID-19 pandemic, the JPS Foundation donated data packages to some teachers and students, as well as computers to Muschett and Merlene Ottey High Schools.<\/p>\n Recognizing that CSEC and CAPE examinations are the usual gateways for students to matriculate into local universities and colleges, the JPS Foundation is committed to giving youngsters the necessary boost to get to the next level of development, as they seek to maximize their potential.<\/p>\n Of the 50 schools benefitting from the support programme, 12 are members of the JPS Foundation Energy Clubs network.
