{"id":72924,"date":"2022-07-20T11:55:09","date_gmt":"2022-07-20T15:55:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.carilec.org\/?p=72924"},"modified":"2022-07-20T11:55:09","modified_gmt":"2022-07-20T15:55:09","slug":"ccreee-caribbean-export-cooperate-to-create-jobs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carilec.org\/ccreee-caribbean-export-cooperate-to-create-jobs\/","title":{"rendered":"CCREEE &#038; Caribbean Export Cooperate to Create Jobs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-72928\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.carilec.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CCREEE-300x157.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"314\" srcset=\"https:\/\/carilec.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CCREEE-300x157.png 300w, https:\/\/carilec.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CCREEE-768x402.png 768w, https:\/\/carilec.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CCREEE-600x314.png 600w, https:\/\/carilec.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CCREEE.png 1004w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Caribbean Export Development Agency and the Caribbean Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CCREEE) have agreed on a framework to cooperate on growing businesses through sustainable energy.\u00a0 The two organisations have signed a Cooperation Agreement to officiate their relationship given their symbiotic mandates.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cCaribbean Export is excited to be working with CCREEE to tackle the immense challenges which our region must confront \u2013 firstly, global climate change; second, building sustainable and affordable energy systems and third, poverty reduction through private sector development.\u201d, shared Deodat Maharaj, Executive Director of Caribbean Export.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Maharaj highlighted that according to the International Labour Organization and the Inter-American Development Bank, it is estimated that decarbonisation will lead to the net increase of jobs in the Caribbean by 3.1%, that is, the creation of approximately 400,000 jobs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Echoing Mr. Maharaj\u2019s sentiments, Dr. Gary Jackson \u2013 Executive Director of the CCREEE \u2013 remarked, \u201cEnergy is one of the most pressing development challenges of our time; a challenge that is best addressed, especially within the Caribbean context, through cooperation. We are resilient collectively, not separately\u201d, he said. Dr Jackson further noted: \u201cit is our human capacity which defines our resilience. \u201cAs we cement our partnership today, our hope is that the CCREEE and Caribbean Export can adequately set an example of what can be accomplished with the coalition of the willing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The agreement outlines areas of cooperation including technical assistance projects to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy capacity building for the private sector.\u00a0 These initiatives will assist businesses to enhance their climate resilience, increase energy access, develop sustainable buildings and promises to ensure knowledge management and transfer, promote sustainable industry and business growth.\u00a0 Together the organisations are supporting businesses capacity to provide a suite of renewable energy and energy efficient products and services.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition, Caribbean Export and the CCREEE highlighted that today\u2019s signing is merely a formalisation of the already functional partnership.
