The Company has now installed the Residential Advanced Metering Infrastructure (RAMI) system, and has transferred\u00a0over 270 existing customers to the new structure.\u00a0\u00a0This\u00a0makes for more reliable and safe supply, while encouraging regularization of more residents.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The upgraded JPS infrastructure is being undertaken at a cost of approximately US$1M or J$154M.\u00a0\u00a0With the new system, illegal connections will be removed and the ability to illegally connect to the network will be significantly reduced, as of the end of March 2023.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The electrical infrastructure development work in Tower Hill started in October 2022, under the JPS Community Renewal programme, which seeks to improve quality of life for residents in selected communities, by providing upgraded, regularized electricity service.\u00a0\u00a0JPS has been engaging residents directly in the community, in addition to operating Temporary Offices, to facilitate the sign-up of new customers.\u00a0 Additionally, over 250 residents have benefitted from house-wiring funded by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development&#8217;s Electrification Programme &#8211; and implemented by the Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Network upgrades and social intervention have also been taking place in Barrett Hall\u00a0and Granville in St. James; and\u00a0Grants Pen and August Town Phase 2 in St. Andrew.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The JPS Community Renewal Programme, which was established in 2014, has been successful in converting thousands of households to legitimate electricity usage in\u00a0communities in Kingston, St. Andrew, St. Catherine and St. James.\u00a0\u00a0JPS continues its efforts to improve the reliability of electricity to communities across the island.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; (Kingston, March 29, 2023)\u00a0 Residents of Tower Hill in the Kingston 11 area are set to benefit from JPS [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":165,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[73],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-80051","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-member-news"],"acf":[],"aioseo_notices":[],"featured_image":"https:\/\/carilec.org\/wp-includes\/images\/media\/default.svg","month_date":"Mar","day_date":"29","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/carilec.org\/api\/wp\/v2\/posts\/80051","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/carilec.org\/api\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/carilec.org\/api\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/carilec.org\/api\/wp\/v2\/users\/165"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/carilec.org\/api\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=80051"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/carilec.org\/api\/wp\/v2\/posts\/80051\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/carilec.org\/api\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=80051"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/carilec.org\/api\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=80051"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/carilec.org\/api\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=80051"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
