A vacancy exists at Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) for the post of Chief Executive Officer.
Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) is the only fully licensed commercial distributor of electricity in Belize, Central America. It is a public limited liability Company, the majority ownership of which is held by State interests (the Government of Belize and the Belize Social Security Board), with a significant minority interest held by Fortis Inc., a major generator and distributor of electricity in Canada, the U.S.A. and the Caribbean. A much smaller minority interest is also owned by a number of private Belizean shareholders.
BEL’s principal focus as the main electricity provider in Belize, subject to regulation by the Public Utilities Commission, is centered on four identified pillars designed to (a) increase stakeholder and shareholder value by ensuring financial stability and growth, (b) increase customer market by advancing electricity access, customer culture and brand loyalty, (c) utilise state-of-the-art technology and automation and (d) achieve and maintain full
supply reliability and operational excellence through best-practices in all aspects of its operations, taking account of ongoing change in the internal and external environment.
The Board of Directors of BEL is searching for a dynamic and experienced leader to join BEL in the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CEO will ensure acceptable achievement of Corporate Targets set by the Board of Directors in the Company’s Business Plans and, in this process, the CEO will demonstrate competencies in the
electricity business, industry and marketplace as well as in the creation of new and better ways for the Company to be successful. The ideal candidate for this position will have previous corporate management experience and a proven track record for effective engineering team management and results-driven leadership.
