Electrical Crews from Barbados and Dominica Assisting Grenlec Crews with Post-Beryl Restoration

Just days after the first support crew arrived from St. Lucia, Grenlec welcomed additional CARILEC teams from Barbados Light and Power Company (BLPC) and Dominica Electricity Services (DOMLEC).

The Dominica and Barbados Crews travelled to Carriacou on Sunday 14 July to support the Grenlec Team in Carriacou and Petite Martinique while a team from Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) is expected to arrive in Carriacou later this week.

These teams, together with the Grenlec teams bring together a significant cadre of skilled and experienced staff that are undertaking restoration efforts in Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

Clive Hosten, Acting General Manager commented, “Grenlec welcomes the support from regional utility companies to work alongside our team in restoring power to the residents of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. Our islands suffered major losses and the added manpower and resources is a significant contribution in restoring power to our residents.

“We thank our Grenlec team for their excellent job in restoring power to customers, regional teams on the ground, CARILEC and our fellow regional utility companies for coming to our aid.”

The regional support team initiative is coordinated through CARILEC to provide restoration relief to islands in need.
