ABOUT THIS EVENT
The CAREC Resilient Power Webinar Series was created to showcase the energy leadership of Caribbean professionals in the electricity industry. In the last decade, the Caribbean has faced disruption at an unprecedented scale, such as pandemics, droughts, earthquakes, and hurricanes. Teams across the region are working to manage the risk of disaster and implement new technologies to build resilience.
This week’s Webinar description:
The 16th of November 2020, Hurricane Iota hit the Colombian Archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina. The system left considerable damage to the Caribbean island of San Andres and their people, and destroyed approximately 90% of all Providencia island infrastructure. This webinar explores some of the lessons learned from the Energy Company of the Archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina (EEDAS). The panel will share not only the lessons learned since the disaster but the plans for creating more resilient infrastructure for the island territories.
