The Caribbean Lineworker can be described as the backbone of the regional utility, providing critical manpower, expertise, and technical knowledge to ensure that utility operations remain fully functional. Lineworkers provide an invaluable service to their respective utilities and customers, in ensuring that power is restored after an outage, particularly in times of disaster or multi-hazards. Given the pivotal role which lineworkers play in the efficient running of the electric utility sector, CARILEC is excited to announce the return of its popular Lineworker Rodeo & Safety Training.
In late 2022, the Association spearheaded the Lineworker Reserve Corps Training, which focused on technical aspects of post-disaster power line and electric infrastructure restoration, as well as safety and security matters. The program successfully trained over 80 utility lineworkers and contractors from 13 Caribbean islands. Given the success of this program, CARILEC is eager to welcome lineworkers from member utilities, throughout the Caribbean, at this year’s Rodeo, under the theme “Championing Caribbean Lineworkers for a Resilient Energy Future”.
A resilient energy future requires that all stakeholders in the energy sector continue to acquire the necessary skills and expertise required to develop solutions to solve problems, within quick time. More specifically, the lineworker is tasked with a very critical role in the resilient energy future, which is to ensure that he/she adheres to the highest standard of safety and security, while delivering high quality and reliable restoration service. This is why CARILEC has included a safety training component as part of this event, on April 15th.
Inarguably, the Rodeo is a popular favourite of utility lineworkers, as they are provided with a forum to improve their technical skills, while simultaneously engaging in an entertaining display, in the spirit of comradery and collaboration. This year’s Rodeo is scheduled for April 16th.
This event is targeted towards utility lineworkers, contracted lineworkers, and utility safety managers. For further information contact [email protected] or our Events, Marketing and Member Services Department at [email protected].
