Castries, September 30, 2025 – In a spirited display of community engagement and teamwork, volunteers from St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) dedicated a Saturday morning to revitalize the exterior of the Vieux-Fort Infant School, just in time for the start of the new academic year.
“This is more than just a summer project for us at LUCELEC. It’s an example that when we come together, we can build and paint a brighter future for Saint Lucia,” said Richmond Felix, Corporate Communications Officer at LUCELEC.
The team powered initiative ensured students returned to a school environment as fresh and inviting as their new school supplies. LUCELEC Customer Service Team member and volunteer, Georgina Belas shared her enthusiasm for the project, stating, “on approaching the school, I recognized that it needed our help, we needed to be here a lot sooner but we’re here at the opportune time. It would definitely brighten up their day, children are attracted to colour, and this is quite an attractive colour – it looks clean, it looks fresh.”
Principal of the Vieux-Fort Infant School, Fara Charles expressed her gratitude for the ongoing partnership with LUCELEC. “We have been partnering with LUCELEC for a while now. We had some of the paint already, some of the material, and LUCELEC did the rest. And they came with volunteers, which is even better and that made the project a success.”
This latest initiative builds on previous collaborations, including contributions to the establishment of a special education resource classroom. It exemplifies LUCELEC’s enduring commitment to education and youth development, values that have guided the company through 60 years of service in Saint Lucia.
“It is inspiring to see Team LUCELEC members come together, living our values of Caring, Teamwork and this is what community looks like and interestingly; it’s a reflection of not just our Core Values but the values of the school as well,” said Felix.
Demonstrating continued dedication, one week after the initial volunteer effort, a LUCELEC team member returned to complete the painting project, supported by a school staff member. Their commitment underscores the company’s ethos of service and community spirit.
