WAPA Governing Board Announces New CEO at Board Meeting Held Today

U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – July 25, 2024 – The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (“WAPA” or the “Authority”) is pleased to announce that the WAPA Governing Board has appointed Karl Knight as the new Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director of the Authority. With a robust background in the utility sector and previous tenure at the Authority, Karl Knight brings a wealth of experience and a re-ignited vision for WAPA’s future.

Knight expressed his enthusiasm for the role, stating, “I am honored to return to the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority in this leadership capacity. My commitment is to take proactive measures to enhance our services, ensuring we meet the highest standards of reliability for our community. Transparency and accountability will be the cornerstones of my leadership, as we work diligently to serve the needs of all Virgin Islanders and support the success of local businesses.”

Recognizing the pivotal role the Authority plays in the quality of life for residents and the operational success of local businesses, Knight is dedicated to driving major initiatives already in the pipeline as developed within the Strategic Plan towards financial stability. These initiatives are designed to ensure long-term sustainability and financial stability for WAPA with the goal of reducing the cost of electricity for customers.

As part of his commitment to fostering a stronger connection with the community, Knight will prioritize public engagement, ensuring that the Authority maintains open lines of communication and keeps residents informed about progress and developments.
