CARILEC INCREASES INCLUSION & OPPORTUNITY WITH NEW ‘INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP CATEGORY’

Saint Lucia, March 14, 2022– CARILEC is seeking to add value for current and prospective members through the addition of a new Individual Membership Category. While the organization formerly offered membership under the ‘Utility’, ‘Associate’, ‘Affiliate’, and ‘Independent Power Producer’ categories, this new membership expansion strategy endeavours to increase inclusion and opportunity for potential members. As of March 14th, 2022, academics, retirees, and practitioners will now benefit from opportunities for networking and business growth in the energy sector, on an individual basis.

The new Membership Category offers four classes of membership designed to benefit specific groups. Reserved for senior industry leaders, the ‘Honorary/ Lifetime’ membership will assist the Association, and the industry, in retaining valuable expertise, knowledge, and wisdom of long-standing industry leaders. This includes Ex-CEOs, General Managers, Presidents and Managing Directors of Utility Companies, CARILEC Chairmen and Directors, and CEOs of Regional and International Associations and Not-for-Profit organisations. This class of membership will allow established industry experts to continue serving on advisory boards and committees and actively participate in CARILEC’s functions and events.

The ‘Student’ membership class seeks to welcome undergraduate and postgraduate students actively enrolled in a University, College, or a Professional Academic Institution, while the ‘Academic’ membership class caters to lecturers and researchers. Membership under these two classes will create opportunities to publish in CARILEC’s Industry Journal, as well as CARILEC supported publications. The ‘Consultant/Industry Practitioner’ class was developed to assist independent consultants, professional energy solutions practitioners, and freelancers to establish connections and participate in key forums. This membership category will also facilitate networking with colleagues to exchange and share best practice information.

The Individual Membership Category also provide a series of general benefits across the 4 classes. Members will receive news, updates, and industry alerts, including a monthly newsletter, as well as opportunities to attend networking sessions with energy solutions providers. They will also be able to participate in CARILEC’s general conferences at a reduced rate and receive full access to utility webinar sessions or webinar hosting. Growing membership also provides data that can expand regional utility technical studies, which can be used to develop utility operations.

This membership expansion strategy is in keeping with the execution of CARILEC’s Strategic Plan 2018-2023. Member services is regarded as the backbone of the Association and therefore, developing adequate value propositions for members remains a high priority for the Secretariat.
