About Punta Cana

Language: The official language is Spanish. A large number of Dominicans also speak English very well since many private schools teach English as a second language. In tourist areas, most Dominicans at least speak two languages, many also speak French, Italian, Russian and German.

Climate: Punta Cana has some climate variations throughout the year, but the temperatures are always perfect to enjoy a day on the beach and explore the treasures of the Dominican Republic. The average temperature is 27°C (80°F). The hottest temperatures are during the summer months of July and August. The average temperate is around 90°F (32°C). The lowest temperature are from the months of November through January at an average of 24°C (75.5°F), on the mountainous regions of the Dominican Republic is cooler lowering to 18°C (64.4°F). The most pleasant temperature is from December through March, early mornings and evenings are cooler at an average of 65°F (18°C), and the middle of the day averages from 77°F(25°C) and 80°F (27°C).

Currency: Peso, written as RD $ is the official currency of the Dominican Republic. One of the benefits of vacationing in the Dominican Republic is the exchange value, especially US dollars and Euros, giving visitors more value for their money when compared to other destinations in the Caribbean.

A quick way to remember the approximate value of Dominican Pesos ($RD):

Electricity: 110 volts Standard plug has two flat blades, some appliances have a third-round pin. Receptacles work to accommodate both, the same as in the United States and Canada. Visitors from Europe and other countries will need an adapter. To be sure your electronics work, we suggest you bring your own adapter in case the hotel does not have enough for all guests requesting it.
