The Amazon Web Services Summit, held recently at the Anaheim Convention Center, in California USA, saw JPS taking the stage, as an outstanding example of an organization using cloud technology to economically facilitate customer service.

The participation at the Amazon conference comes on the heels of JPS being declared a success story by Amazon Web Services in July 2022, for the integration and deployment of various AWS products in its customer service delivery.  JPS is now among a select few international customers that are used as success stories and advocates in the Amazon Web Services and cloud computing space.

JPS Manager for Business Intelligence and Analytics, Kathryn Archie, who addressed the Amazon summit of over 6,000 face-to-face participants, shared how the JPS experience had improved the efficiency of service delivery.  She also fielded questions from representatives of US based companies as well as from other parts of the world, seeking to better understand and employ strategies used by JPS.

How Customers have benefited from the AWS Cloud migration

The process began in early 2020, when JPS began designing its infrastructure using Amazon Web Services to support its new web portal and the MyJPS Mobile app. This implementation has provided customers with convenient digital channels that offer key services, simplify processes and increase efficiency surrounding areas such as service requests, collections, reconnections, bill delivery, and even being able to monitor energy usage in near real time, among others.

JPS Chief Operating Officer, Gary Barrow, expressed that this was a significant milestone because of what the migration to the AWS Cloud means for JPS customers. “We have successfully launched a myriad of solutions; evolving our operations and realizing efficiencies that has directly benefited our customers.”

According to the Amazon Web Services team, JPS’s thrust to innovate and adopt their products in unique ways, continue to set it apart from other industry practitioners. The AWS team has therefore documented the company’s journey and successes with their products in a written and video case study accessible on its website at aws.amazon.com.  The development comes as part of JPS’ on-going focus on transforming service to their customers by giving them greater control and empowerment.
