Caribbean Utilities Company, Ltd. (“CUC” or “the Company”) is pleased to announce the promotion of Judith Bennett to the position of Director Sustainable Finance.
Judith joined CUC as Manager of the Financial Services Department in 2015 and held that position until 2021. In this role, she was responsible for all aspects of internal and external reporting and she managed the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
In 2021, Judith was appointed to the Company’s newly created Regulatory and Sustainability Department as Manager. In this role, she was responsible for creating CUC’s Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) strategy, metrics and targets and she acted as a key liaison with the utility regulator. Judith established a list of reporting metrics to enhance sustainability reporting and produced the Company’s first Sustainability Report. Judith fostered a culture of sustainability across the Company and she was responsible for bringing awareness to CUC’s ESG initiatives. Her focus has been on developing new sustainable business opportunities, leveraging all regulatory mechanisms and aligning ESG targets with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
A Certified Public Accountant and Georgia State University alumna, Judith holds a BBA with a concentration in Accounting and Finance. She has completed the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 5 certificate in Leadership and Management. Judith brings a wealth of knowledge and several years of experience in accounting, utility regulation and sustainability to her new role.
In 2022, CUC completed a restructuring exercise to best position the Company to achieve its long-term strategic goals. This process resulted in the introduction of new Director roles to the Senior Management Team. The Company’s robust internal training and development programme aims to provide CUC’s employees with the skills needed to attain leadership roles. This exercise has led to the internal promotion of Judith to Director Sustainable Finance.
