SUMMARY: Without the pressure data, this fault would have gone unnoticed. This case study also highlights
why exhaust temperature monitoring can be misleading and actually mask a real problem which can and does
lead to improper engine adjustments. The vibration data allowed for quick, pinpoint troubleshooting. As this is
plant critical safety related equipment, identification and repair occurred in a short period of time and did not
necessitate having to power down the reactor.
